Question:
If you would like
to make a picture from a photo, how big should be for it not to
look strange, I understand that it depends on what kind of scenes there is at the photo
but I am thinking mainly of portraits.
Answer:
I have made portraits
that have become pretty good in size 22,5 cm × 30cm
This painting was
among the first I did. It is 45 beads wide and 60 beads high. The colors
were not so good (he did not like it).
About colors You have to think about
how the computer screen is set, how it shows the colors. Even if it looks good
on screen it is not always good in reality.

Here I tried to do a little bigger picture.
It is 60 beads wide and 90 beads high, 30cm × 45cm.
It was
much better, even if it became too dark, but I learn :-)

Then of course I
wanted to test whether I could do a great painting. At that time I thought a
painting of 10,800 pearls was great.
It became popular, so I have
succeeded fairly well with. ;-)
It is 90 beads wide and 120 beads high,
45cm × 60cm.

To see how it would be with a black and white photo
and the PhotoPearls program I made this little picture.
It is 45 beads wide
and 60 beads high, 22.5 cm × 30cm.

Since Ted did not want the
"ugly" picture, I of course had to try to do better :-)
I usually buy
frames at flea market, so when I do a new painting I measure an appropriate
framework and make the picture in the appropriate size, so this was 61 beads wide
and 95 beads high, 30.5 cm × 47.5 cm.

The image on Tim was a
little dark, but this may not be quite like him.
He likes it, so then it is good enough.
